The Senior Environmental Specialist position is responsible for supporting compliance with Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations related to air, water, and waste materials.  Routine responsibilities include reviewing environmental compliance data, managing the site’s waste program, compiling emission event data for reporting, identifying non-compliance issues, and developing/implementing corrective actions.

 

Your scope of responsibility

 

  • Conduct environmental training for plant personnel and correspond with State and Federal regulators.
  • Manage all aspects of Air, Water, and Waste Programs.
  • Review Daily Environmental Reports from DCS.  Document any abnormalities as potential Title V Deviations.
  • Manage  Stormwater and Wastewater Systems
  • Manage overall compliance with all Hazardous and Non-hazardous waste regulations.
  • Continues to update HSEQ knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Interact with local, state, and federal environmental agencies as required, including the preparation of permits and applications, waste generator registrations, regulatory plans, reporting, inspections, and notifications.
  • Provide the necessary written reports to local, state, and federal agencies at the required frequency.
  • Assist other HSEQ personnel in the preparation of monthly/semi-annual/annual reports.
  • Update and lead environmental training programs.
  • Act ethically and with integrity in every function.
  • Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Assists other Departments and other administrative personnel as necessary.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

 

What you bring to OCI

 

Education, Experience, and/or Training

  • Ten (10) years or more of related experience and/or training preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Computer skills—the ability to update spreadsheet programs, as well as working with e-mail at a highly proficient level. Experience with SAP preferred.

Physical

  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, company truck, and/or utility cart.
