The OCI Electrical Instrument Analyzer (EIA) Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, installation, and calibration of all instruments and electrical equipment to maintain industrial production and processing.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform all required work with safety as the top priority and a goal of zero injuries.
- Performs all the administrative and reporting tasks including equipment repair logs or comments in work orders for all work performed. This includes work order management in the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS), service reports and equipment calibration records.
- Troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair analyzers, pneumatic systems, electronic analog systems, digital process control instrumentation, control valves.
- Troubleshoot systems using control logic drawings as they relate to process control.
- Troubleshoot, maintenance and minor repair of low voltage electrical systems (600VAC and below).
- Support startup / shutdown and operations of process plant equipment.
- Perform activities related to the operation and maintenance of electrical and electronic control systems, pneumatics, instrumentation, control valves, motor control systems, low voltage electrical distribution, computer interfaces, and analytical equipment.
- Ensure kitted parts are available for planned jobs prior to performing the work. Submit Planning Feedback Form for part misses.
- Required to climb ladders and stairways.
- Operate man-lifts for elevated maintenance.
- Oversees permitting process for own jobs and non‑resident contractors. Reviews rules and regulations to non‑resident contract personnel as needed.
- Ability to read and communicate material specifications, drawings, and loop sheets. Have knowledge of sourcing on a broad scale with outside vendors.
- Identify permitting requirements and special isolation needs for jobs.
- Participate in process improvements for task lists of recurring jobs. Issue to the EIA Planner for input into the CMMS.
- Complete OCIMesh action items and MOCs as required to finish jobs.
- Always remain compliant with Computer Based Training and LMS Training requirements.
- Progress maintenance activities weekly.
- Provide various technical analysis and reports as needed.
- Always present a professional image to clients and vendors and maintain a positive reputation of the company.
- Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.
- Assists other Departments and other administrative personnel, as necessary.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations
- None required.
Education, Experience, and/or Training
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in the chemical or oil/energy industry preferred.
- 10+ years of industrial instrumentation maintenance preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Good field experience.
- Knowledge of experience using SAP is desired.
- Strong organizational and effective time management skills.
- Flexibility in managing changing priorities and ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Must be willing and able to work in a strong team environment.
- Good communicator and effective at building and maintaining positive relationships.
- Production and Processing – Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

- Regulations – Knowledge of laws and any applicable agency rules.
- Computer skills – the ability to operate computerized accounting and spreadsheet programs, as well as working with email at a highly proficient level. Experience with SAP preferred.

Security Clearance Requirements
- Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
Software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
Physical
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to effectively communicate through various means required.
Environmental
- Work is primarily done in the field. Required fieldwork in and around industrial equipment. Climbing and working at heights required.
- Some work is performed within an office environment, including office equipment – such as computers, telephones, and copiers.
- Noise levels are typically moderate.
