The OCI Mechanical Planner develops work packages for all mechanical jobs, both rotating and fixed equipment. Packages will include all labor and material to complete the job. On work orders with mechanical work centers as the main craft, the Mechanical Planner will oversee coordination of the plan with other planners to keep the work order moving through the process. The work packages will include steps to perform the job in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. The Mechanical Planner provides direction and technical expertise to develop work packages for routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, break-in work, planned outages, unplanned outages, and project work. Detailed, organized, and structured communication with outside vendors and internal departments is required. The Mechanical Planner determines the level of support required from Purchasing, Logistics, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, and Operations to develop, maintain, and complete work packages. Supports all work management processes.

 

The Mechanical Planner is responsible for updates of equipment and functional location Bill Of Materials (BOMs) in SAP. Perform inventory level management, submit requisitions, add change orders, and determine order status are all part of the daily process. Participation in the work selection process and managing planning backlog. Ability to read and communicate material specifications, drawings. Have knowledge of sourcing on a broad scale with outside vendors. The Mechanical Planner will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.

 

Your scope of responsibility

  • Responsible for the initial screening of incoming work orders, identification of scope and analysis of required level of planning.
  • Develop work packages for all mechanical jobs for the effective execution of work by providing job scopes, job step sequence, labor and material requirements, skill requirements, specifying the necessary tools and equipment, external resources, and determining work order costs. Include necessary engineering or technical documents, specifications, and drawings, vendor manuals, P&IDs, pictures, isolation plans, and job plan/feedback form. Field walk all jobs. Verify job kits of work selected before the schedule is posted. Identify specific safety hazards that will be encountered in the performance of the proposed work. Identify permitting requirements and special isolation needs. Determines and includes QA/QC requirements for jobs.
  • Reviews Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to maintain the planner backlog to 2-weeks or less.
  • Create task lists for recurring jobs. Issue to the Preventive Maintenance Coordinator for updates to SAP.
  • Create purchase requisitions and reservations for necessary materials, equipment or services and order material.
  • Continually improve the job plans by collaborating with Maintenance Supervisors and Engineers to 1) Maintain a spare parts inventory, 2) Build & Maintain Bill of Materials for area equipment, 3) Continually update task lists to ensure: necessary changes or improvements are incorporated, and efficiencies are captured per job feedback, 4) Obtaining and analyzing feedback from the work crew through the job feedback process and 5) Updating the task list and job plan libraries.
  • Review work scopes for changes which would result in triggering a Management of Change (MOC)
  • Assist in emergency or critical priority jobs by expediting materials and coordinating other crafts/resources and fulfilling any other activities (non-standard) assigned by the Supervision.
  • Provide 1st level troubleshooting to develop job packages.
  • Track ordered material for arrival and notify scheduler when the job can be put on the schedule.
  • Participate in the work selection process.
  • Perform material cost overrun investigations, cost management, and resolution to billing issues.
  • Complete Mesh action items and MOCs as required to finish jobs.
  • Always remain compliant with Computer Based Training and LMS Training requirements.
  • Assist with the procurement and expediting of deliverables and assist the purchasing group in sourcing materials.
  • Ensuring the material cost estimate is represented in the schedule by helping to identify tracked material items and bulks.
  • Progress company activities weekly.
  • Ensuring that any schedule related change to the maintenance schedule is documented and approved.
  • Provide various reports as needed.
  • Always present a professional image to clients and vendors and maintain a positive reputation of the company.
  • Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Assists other Departments and other administrative personnel, as necessary.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

What you bring to OCI

Education, Experience, and/or Training

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in planning for EIA craft with good field experience.
  • Previous Planning/Scheduling experience using SAP is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and effective time management skills.
  • Flexibility in managing changing priorities and ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a strong team environment.
  • Good communicator and effective at building and maintaining positive relationships.

 

Security Clearance Requirements

  • Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).

  • Work is performed within an office environment, including office equipment – such as computers, telephones, and copiers.
  • Requires field walks in and around industrial equipment areas. Climbing and field walks at heights required.

Work Schedule

  • Monday – Friday between 8:00am – 5:00pm, working the 9/80 schedule.
  • May work additional hours and days, including weekends and holidays as required.

 

Travel

  • Travel not anticipated in this role.
