Sr. construction coordinator -PIping

The Senior Construction Coordinator will be responsible for the field coordination of expense and capital projects to the extent directed by the Construction Manager over a job.  Directs and coordinates activities of contract construction companies and sometimes company personnel that are engaged in project construction, including coordination of equipment and supplies necessary to complete the project.

 

Your Scope or Responsibility

 

  • Participate in bidding of jobs, preparation of bid tabulations, contractor evaluations, and recommending bid awards.
  • Coordinate field construction, overseeing contract compliance and reporting to project engineer.
  • Cost control tracking on active projects including review of contractor timesheets, resolution of manpower issues, etc.
  • Review, process and get necessary approvals for any change orders to contract work.
  • Troubleshoot construction delays, support internal permitting for work.
  • Act as liaison between contractors and company functional areas – purchasing, accounting, safety, etc.
  • Coordinate capital projects up to $5 million, and possibly manage smaller projects up to $1 million.
  • Prepare and process requisitions for supplies and equipment.
  • Provide various department-related reports as needed.
  • Present a professional image at all times to contractors and vendors and maintain a positive reputation of the company.
  • Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Assist other Departments and other administrative personnel as necessary.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations

  • None required

 

Education, Experience, and/or Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, or twenty (20) years or more of related experience and/or training can be substituted.
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years’ experience working in Project Management, Project Coordination, or Construction Coordination role.
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience working in Manufacturing or Industrial industry required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Administration and Management – Knowledge of business and management principles involved in project planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Production and Processing – Knowledge of construction methods and materials, quality control, cost control, and other techniques for managing construction projects.
  • Accounting – Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Regulations – Knowledge of laws and any applicable agency rules.
  • Computer skills – the ability to operate computerized accounting and spreadsheet programs, as well as working with e-mail at a highly proficient level. Experience with SAP preferred.
  • Detail-oriented – minimizes errors and recognizes errors made by others.
  • Teamwork – the position requires working well in a team environment, and able to work with a diverse group of people.

Software

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel required.
  • Experience with SAP

Physical

  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to work in the field for prolonged amounts of time including climbing stairs and ladders required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through various means required.

 

Work Schedule

  • Monday – Friday
  • May work additional hours and days, including weekends and holidays as required.

 

Travel

  • Less than 10% of the time.
