Repair, install, adjust, or maintain industrial production and processing machinery or refinery and pipeline distribution systems.

Your scope of responsibility

  • Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment.
  • Repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment.
  • Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
  • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using vibration analysis and thermography.
  • Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
  • Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Record repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
  • Present a professional image at all times to clients and vendors and maintain a positive reputation for the company.
  • Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Assists other Departments and other administrative personnel as necessary.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Ability to document maintenance orders and documents in a CMMS.
  • Operate Alignment Instruments and Hydraulic Presses.
  • Independently handle routine repairs and maintenance tasks
  • General Purpose Turbine Troubleshooting
  • Centrifugal Pump Troubleshooting
  • Install, align, and balance machinery according to specifications

What you bring to OCI

Education, Experience, and/or Training

  • High School diploma or equivalent training required.
  • 5+ years of experience working on rotating equipment in the petrochemical industry or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Design — Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Safety, Health, & Environmental – knowledgeable of the concepts, procedures, and regulations affecting the effective safety of a facility.
  • Repairing — Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Equipment Maintenance — Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Operation and Control — Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Equipment Selection — Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Monitoring — Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Deductive Reasoning — The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Ability to pass physical exam that may include, but not limited to, the following: Reaction Time, Control Precision, Manual Dexterity, Arm-Hand Steadiness, Finger Dexterity, Near Vision, Hearing Sensitivity, Information Ordering, Multi-limb Coordination, Problem Sensitivity

 

Security Clearance Requirements

  • Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)

 

TOOLS / EQUIPMENT

  • Hex keys, micrometers, power grinders, thickness measuring devices, Dial Indicators, Laser Alignment Systems, Vibration Analysis Systems
  • Computer

 

Physical

  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged amounts of time required.

 

Environmental

  • Work is performed within a warehouse environment, including industrial equipment – such as loaders, forklifts, and other machinery.
  • Work is performed in the “field”, requiring proper safety equipment.
  • Noise levels are typically moderate-to-loud.

 

Work Schedule & Travel

  • Rotating 4/10s: Monday – Thursday one week, Tuesday – Friday the next week
  • May work longer hours to meet deadlines as necessary.
