SR. Instrumentation engineer

Research, design, review, inspect and supervise the manufacturing, assembly and installation work of Process Instrument and Automation System for commercial, industrial, petrochemical, or energy projects.

 

Your Scope of Responsibility

  • Work with a multi-disciplined team to organize, initiate and develop the work execution of Capital Projects.
  • Confer with engineers, contractors, customers, or others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects.
  • Work with instrumentation contractors to follow through with completion of Capital Expenditure Projects on plant site.
  • Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Review of technical specification and design documents including automation software supplied by contractors.
  • Direct or coordinate engineering, fabrication, testing activities and documentation to ensure compliance with standard practice, specification, national codes, or customer requirements.
  • Check the design and fabrication of instrumentation equipment in compliance with applicable codes and regulations e.g. ISA S84 / IEC 61511 / IEC 62433 etc.
  • Review the manufacturing concept and fabrication process and evaluate the feasibility also with respect of scheduling and optimization.
  • Participate in pre inspection and testing of automation systems.
  • Prepare various reports as needed and provide input to time schedule
  • Follow up overall fabrication status or site installation with regard to progress achievements and critical paths as applicable. Control and monitoring of key performance figures to ensure schedule milestones.
  • Initiate and moderate technical discipline meetings with contractors and participate in regular meetings related to QS, HSE, progress and schedule.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software to perform engineering tasks.
  • Assist in root cause failure analysis and develop procedure / modify automation concept to remedy deficiencies.
  • Provide input to mechanical completion monitoring system to ensure completeness of individual manufacturing and construction steps.
  • Present a professional image at all times to clients and vendors and maintain a positive reputation of the company.
  • Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Assists other departments and other administrative personnel as necessary.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

 

What you bring to OCI     

 

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations

  • none

Education, Experience, and/or Training

  • Bachelor of Science degree (Instrumentation or Automation Engineering) is required.
  • Minimum of 15 years, experience of EPC of mega projects and engineering experience in the industry is preferred.
  • Solid experience in Ammonia and/or Methanol is required.
  • Knowledgeable in the establishment and application of engineering management systems, processes, and tools
  • Field Engineering experience: configuration/troubleshooting DCS/PLC systems, preferably Yokogawa (CENTUM-CS, CS3000, PROSAFE-RS)/Alen Bradley/Siemens PCS7);
  • Engineering experience: Develop Process Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), Control, Safeguarding, Control narratives, and process control specifications
  • Excellent technical and practical skills and able to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to OCI.

  • Manage DCS/PLC/F&G vendor maintenance contracts                   
  • Lead enhancement and coordinate activities on the DCS/PLC/F&G-software and hardware.
  • DCS/PLC troubleshooting and software maintenance
  • Manage the cyber security of the plant DCS/PLC systems
  • Manage all Instruments (plant wide)
  • Manage the AMS/PRM, Asset Management Systems / Plant Resource Management systems
  • Manage the Analysers (and Analyser House) and the emission monitoring systems
  • Manage “Custody transfer” and metering
  • Manage the calibration/testing activities of Instruments (including the F&G instruments)
  • Manage the plant wide Instrument Air compressor
  • Supervise instrument related site maintenance work

 

Security Clearance Requirements

  • Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)

Experience:

  • Extensive technical, practical and leadership experience in the relevant discipline, including experience in engineering management positions and project management. A thorough understanding of industrial environment and demonstrable leadership experience and managing a team across multi-disciplinary and large-scale projects.
  • Project management and/or experience with heavy industrial process projects; experience budgeting and planning projects.
  • In depth understanding of static and rotating equipment, utility systems; experience with coatings used in industrial applications.
  • Experience in best chemical plant practices in safety, health, and environmental areas for engineering and construction.
  • Ability to translate technical plans into easy-to-understand laymen’s terms and communicate such translations in clear terminology.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, MS Project, various email and internet programs and applications; computer-based design experience preferred.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written; Spanish language skills helpful; listening skills; experience creating and delivering presentations.
  • Experience working with Federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

  • Requires sitting, standing, and walking for extensive periods of time.

  • Confined space entry may be required.
  • Wearing a respirator when/where required to perform inspections/job duties.
  • Industrial chemical plant environment.

 

Work Schedule

  • Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm.
  • May work longer hours onsite and weekends to meet deadlines as necessary.

 

Travel

  • Travel 10-20% of time
