Responsible for leading multiple projects utilizing good project management methodology to ensure the project success from safety standards, quality, on budget and schedule. Requires an engineering degree with 7 years of experience in project management of capital projects. Has a sound decision and capable of leading multiple projects from start to closure.  Reports to CA Engineering Manager.
 

Essential Job Functions

At a minimum, tasks will include, but not limited to:

  • Plan, organize, direct, cost control and implementation of approved projects.  Conform with Environmental, Health & Safety regulations and quality control procedures expected.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a group of project engineers.
  • Assume full responsibility for the projects program for the operating company.
  • Propose the annual required budget for the program and spending forecast based on the project execution plan.
  • Focus on the success of the program with the team to ensure delivery based on the approved projects in the program.
  • Lead the project team members efficiently toward the project success, with good utilization of the internal and external resources.
  • Directly manages large size or high-risk projects.
  • Project Management experience in projects up to 100 million dollars TIC.
  • Managing a project program from initiation, budgeting, and execution of the program on schedule and within budget.
  • Periodic reporting and presenting the project status to senior management.
  • Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options on how to proceed with the project. Provide technical input for activities such as equipment design and specification, review of contractors’ drawings, and scope of work.
  • Participate in bidding for jobs, preparation of bid tabulations, contractor evaluations, and recommending bid awards.
  • Co-ordinate and supervise construction contractors associated with the projects and keep a daily direct contact with the contractor to ensure that the required safety, quality, and execution performance are on track.
  • Prepare RFP package for several stages of the project.
  • Participate in bidding for jobs, preparation of bid tabulations, contractor evaluations, and recommending bid awards.
  • Managing the project team to ensure the project is executed safely, on schedule and budget.
  • Assume responsibility for all project aspects along all project contractors “Licensor, engineering, procurement and construction contractor” ensuring contractor compliance.
  • Identify required staff and talents for the project.
  • Hiring staff and personnel to fill required roles and positions to ensure the project’s success.
  • Maintain a continuing liaison with all plant personnel who share responsibility for the function of those areas where there is an engineering responsibility.
  • Maintains an on-going familiarization with all procedures, equipment, and processes.
  • Assists in Design review and plan layout of equipment.
  • Follow company safety and health guidelines and other company policies.
  • Ability to climb straight ladders.
  • Some work may require heights in excess of 100 feet.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Industrial chemical plant environment.
  • Noise levels may require hearing protection.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.  Always ensure HR has a copy of a current, valid license on file.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations

  • PMP is a plus.

Education, Experience, and/or Training

  • Mechanical, Chemical or Civil engineering degree is a must.
  • 7-10 years of experience in managing projects.
  • Successful history of projects managed in a large reputable organization.

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

  • English Language – Proficient in the use of the English language.
  • Leadership – High level of leadership experience, Goal getter, Capable of working independently leading a project team, needs minimum supervision and ability to produce results.
  • Technical skills – Capable of reading civil construction and mechanical drawings, P&IDs, Isometrics, and inspection reports.
  • Administration and Management – Knowledge of business and management principles involved in project planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Regulations – Knowledge of laws and any applicable agency rules.
  • Risk management – Capable of identifying risk and implementing a pro-active mitigation plan.
  • Cost management – Budgeting and monitoring of the project budget to ensure no over-run.
  • Detail-oriented – minimizes errors and recognizes errors made by others. Sharp identification to construction deviations, attention to contract details, detail scope out of project scope of work.
  • Problem solving – Capable of resolving problems independently and utilizing team effort.
  • Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Organized and prioritized –plan things carefully and keep things neat and in place.

Additional Eligibility REQUIREMENTS

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, pre-employment physical and drug screen.  In addition to the following:

 

Software

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook – required.
  • MS Projects and or P6 – Preferred.
  • SAP – preferred.

 

Physical

  • Ability to lift 30 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to sit for extended amounts of time required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through various means required.

 

 

Environmental

  • Majority of work is performed in a field environment, either in noisy locations or greenfield space, but also includes office work and operation of office equipment such as computers, telephones, and copiers.
  • Noise levels in the field can often require hearing protection.

 

Work Schedule & Travel

  • Work Schedule:  40 hours/week
